13.1 Miles
So for the last few days, I have been seriously considering signing up for a 1/2 marathon. I know that I am currently training for a 10k race, but I figured I can just roll those training times into a 1/2 marathon training. I am already running 5+ miles in a hour, so instead of stopping at the 6 miles mark, just keep going.
I DID IT! I signed up for the Pittsburgh Marathon and will be joining the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Pittsburgh Team. If you want to make a donation, please click here.
On May 6, 2012, I will be running and should I say running/walking the 1/2 marathon. Here is the course map:
13.1 miles from start to finish.
My goal is to finish within the three hour and 1/2 time limit.
Heck, my main goal is to just finish.
So I have 14 weeks to go before my big RACE DAY. Let the countdown begin.
Oh wait, I am getting married April 7, so I will have about 12 weeks to really train.
Crazy, I know….
A little piece of Home
So Erin is getting all settled in Rome and she is texting me with all of the details. The weather is lovely, apartment is great, roommate is from RI, classes start on Monday and so on. Then she hits me with this text:
Erin: mommmmmmmmm
Me: yes Erin
Erin: I need you to send me a few things.
Me: ok! What types of things?
Erin: ketchup & hot sauce
Me: what? Don’t they have that over there?
Erin: Nope! I want HEINZ ketchup.
Me: seriously. ![]()
Erin: yes, it’s NASTY!
SMDH! Only my child would want me to ship her a box full of Heinz Ketchup packs & hot sauce. She has been in Rome for 2 days and still wants a little piece of Pittsburgh with her. True Pittsburgher.

1st 5k of 2012 is DONE!
“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
-John Bingham
Yesterday morning, i got up early to run in the James V. Snyder 5k resolution run. The race was being held in North Park. The weather was FANTASTIC. It’s was around 46 degrees when I left my house but when I got into the park the temperature had dropped to 38 degrees. But the sun was shining and it wasn’t that bad once I started running.
This was my first time running at North Park and the organizers didn’t post the route on the website. So I didn’t know what to expect once I got there.
But it turned that the route wasn’t that bad. There was one decent hill at the beginning of the race and then a few rolling hills mixed throughout the three miles. Once I made it past that first hill, I was okay. On the way back, I was able to pick up my speed and finish STRONG!!!!
And boy did I finish STRONG!!!!
Unofficial Time
3.10 (3.23 per my Nike+ app) miles
34:34 minutes
10:42 pace
Yes!!!!!! That’s a New Personal Best!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed this race and plan on running again next year.

Upcoming 5k – James V Snyder Memorial “Resolution Run”
One of my goals this year is to run at least four 5k races.
Well, my first schedule race is this coming Saturday.
I will be running in the James V Snyder Memorial “Resolution Run.
I am SUPER EXCITED to get outside and run again.
The weather is SUPPOSED to be mild, so I won’t have to worry about freezing my little butt off
READY, SET, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I think my scale is BROKE!
130, 130, 130 and 130
Argghhhhhhhh!!! This has been my weight for my last 4 weigh – ins.
My scale has to be broke because I have been busting my butt with my work outs and have been trying to eat healthier.
But the weight is not coming off. :-(
I am not going to let it stop me. I do notice a difference in my clothes , so that is a positive.
But I still think my scale is broke. :-)
Thats my story and I am sticking with it. *For now*
