Monthly Archives: January 2011

January 2011 Wrap up

Wow…Can you believe that today is January 31, 2011?   It just seem like it was New Years Day.  Dang…I guess time does fly when you are having fun.   :-)   So many exciting things have happened to me this month.

Here are few highlights:

-       My little sister had her baby 3 weeks early.   Sophia was born on January 10, 2011.

 -       Spent a few dollars on myself and purchase a NOOK.  Got my reading game back on.

-       Completed my first Rapid Improvement Event (RIE)

-       My hometown team has made it to the Super Bowl again…..GO STEELERS!

In regards to my goals, here is where I stand:

Working out :-( I only worked out two days this month.   This is not good.  Need to find more time in my busy schedule to work out at least 3x times a week.

Blogging :-) :-)  Started the Blog a week challenge. Start blogging again on a steady basis! Yea Me….

Spending time with family/friends :-) :-)   I have been calling my mom more often.  I am getting better with just calling to say hi.  Soon I will be calling her every day…  :-)   On the 29th, I spent time with a few high school buddies that I haven’t seen in a few years.  We had a great time and agree to meet once a month, just to catch up and have some ‘me’ time.   Next month, we are all going to a day spa…YES! I.CANT.WAIT!

Spend less, Save more:   :(   This month, I had a lot going on where I had to spend money  :-(  My little sister’s baby shower wasn’t too expensive but I still have to spend some $$$.  I also spent a few dollars on myself and purchase a NOOK!  BUT, I am still contributing to my 401K and IRA ROTH, so I guess I did save something for this month.

Procrastinating :-) I am so proud of myself….I have been working on my to do lists and haven’t been procrastinating…..I have so much work to do….so I am glad that I have been sticking with the promise that I made to myself at the end of the 2010.   So far things are looking good….

All in all, I think I had a pretty good month.   I am sure that February will be just as exciting!  So bring it on, I am so ready!

Perfect Guys Do Not Exist

I stole this quote from my daughter’s blog.    ENJOY!

“He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.”

Day 5 – RIE ~ It’s A Wrap

whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww…..This was a long week.   This morning we FINALLY finished up our implementation plan and presentation.

The final presentation was at 1 pm & I think the project team did an excellent job…The key stakeholders were receptive to our recommendations & gave us their support.

All in all, I believe my first RIE was successful.

Day 3 & 4 – RIE ~ I can see the end of the tunnel or maybe not

DAY 3 – it was all starting to come together…Light bulbs were lighting up over all of the project team. I left Wednesday meeting with a good feeling that I finally am seeing the light at the end if the tunnel.

DAY 4 – once again, we started this day off on a good note..But by mid day we hit a roadblock. Now, we needed our Project Champion to step in & help resolve an issue that could derail this train.

But lucky, it wasn’t as major of an issue that we thought & it was as easy as saying that is not the goal.

So by end of the day, things were back on track.

Tomorrow is the final day! Woo Hoo! Presentation to key stakeholders is at 1 pm.

Never thought I say this: Can’t wait to go back to my normal routine on Monday.

Wordless Wednesday: Ne Yo ~ One in A Million

Totally missed this song when it was released….I think I like it!

Day 2 – RIE ~ The ‘Future State’ is within reach

OMG…..My brain is fried….I can even wait this post because I just don’t have any more brain  power….

Today, I think ever little bit of college algebra that I can remember. *Hint for High School/College:  If you go into Project Management/Process Improvement, YOU will use your algebra skills*

We finally got through of the AS IS process and identified all of non value and valued added processes.

Tomorrow, we start working on the FUTURE STATE processes….WOO HOO!

Since tomorrow is Wordless Wednesday, I will provide an update on Day 3 and 4 on Thursday.

Now, I am going to go to sleep to see if I can get back some of my brain cells overnight.

Day 1- RIE ~ A long and tedious process

Day 1 of my week long RIE was successful.   We had a few mishaps but I think all in all it went okay.   Since this was my first RIE, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the Consultant from the Juran Institute was very helpful and he was able to help me keep the project team on track & on time.

During Day 1, the project team had the task of identifying the “AS IS” process.   It was long and tedious process but we were able to get through it by the end of the day.   According to our Consultant, today was the toughest day of the week. So hopefully, the rest of the week will not be too bad.

Tomorrow, we will use the AS IS process to identified to value added and non valued added items that will helps us to develop our “Future State” process.

I am completely exhausted, so I will sign off for now and get some rest.

Everyone have a good night.

The other day, I was minding my own business when all of sudden, I got a FB message from this Dude.  I was like WTF….so I took and a look at the message and here is what transpired after that first email: (my own commentary is in red)

DW:     U told me u had a man.  Dam I really mess up with u.  Well can we be friends go out, movies, dinner, etc   *Hmmm now he wants to go OUTSIDE the home for dinner, movies, etc*

Me:      Why would you want to go out on a date with me if you know I already got a man?

DW:     I no u got a man but maybe the best man will win in the end.   I mess up but u learn from your mistake  *Oh now, he thinks he is the better man…Yeah right!*

DW:     Is that what u want me to be a quitter  *HUH!…Quitter, there isn’t even a race DUDE*

 Me:      You are crazy

DW:     Why I have to be crazy to express my feeling to u.  Is that being wrong I’m sorry to tell u how I feel

DW:     By the way that’s how I lost u the last time by being afraid and not express my feelings towards u  *Sorry that you feel that way, but it is just a tad bit too LATE*

Me:      Sorry didn’t realize you were serious

Him:    Well u know how your feelings get involved u no how feeling is  *Yeah I do…But once again, why are you telling me this NOW*

 Me:      Yeah I know

Him:    So now u no. where I’m coming from. Just afraid to let u know how I was really feeling about u  *This was so LAST YEAR*

Me:      Are you talking about last year?   You were playing games.  Games & Romance don’t mix.  I told you that last year.

Him:    That’s true.  I don’t consider it a game.  I considered it protecting my heart.  *Now, he is TALKING CRAZY*

ME:     From What?  Me?  Child Please….Life is far too short.  You better remember that for the next one.

Him:    So you stick a fork in me.  So I’m done  *What part didn’t he understand?  I GOT A MAN!*

 Me:      Done with what

Him:    With me. I hope he can be a better man than me *Ummm, he is…that’s why I am still with him*

 Me:      We are cool.

Him:    I respect that. So no dinner date or more *WTF!…See now he is really CRAZY*

 Me:      Bye boy!

 Him:    Serious

Me:      No…I have a man….so no dinner date or dinner for us.

Him:    Ok.  He’s a lucky man *No sh*t Sherlock!   Thanks for confirming what I already know*

Me:      Yes he is.  And I am a lucky woman
