			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://lonelygirl05.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/13-1.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1657" title="13.1" src="http://lonelygirl05.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/13-1.jpg?w=604" alt=""   /></a>So for the last few days, I have been seriously considering signing up for a 1/2 marathon.  I know that I am currently training for a 10k race, but I figured I can just roll those training times into a 1/2 marathon training.  I am already running 5+ miles in a hour, so instead of stopping at the 6 miles mark, just keep going.</p>

<p>On May 6, 2012, I will be running  and should I say running/walking the 1/2 marathon.   Here is the course map:</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">So I have 14 weeks to go before my big RACE DAY.   Let the countdown begin.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Oh wait, I am getting married April 7, so I will have about 12 weeks to really train.</p>

<p>The ladies over at <a href="http://realchicksgettingfit.blogspot.com/2011/12/spring-chick-challenge-2012.html">Real Chicks Getting Fit</a> started a challenge called Spring Chick Challenge and even though I am a few days late, I really would like to join this challenge.</p>
<p>Here are my focus points for the challenge:</p>
<ol start="1">
<li>Commit to a <strong>NSV</strong> (non scale victory) to be assessed at the start and the conclusion of the challenge.
<ul>
<li>Be able to run at least 6 miles</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Track my fitness and diet goals via <a href="http://www.myfitnesspal.com/">MyFitnessPal</a>. (username – Slimgoody05)
<ul>
<li>1300 calories a day</li>
<li>Drink 64 0z of water daily</li>
<li>Cut back on my sweets (my kryptonite)</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Commit to a set of <strong>exercise</strong> parameters. These can be as loose or as flexible as you feel work for your personality, schedule, etc.
<ul>
<li>Exercise 5 times a week</li>
<li>Strength Training at least 2x week</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Commit to <strong>blogging</strong> at least twice weekly and 1 of those times must be you check in with a complete update on your progress.</li>
<li>Commit to <strong>support.</strong>.. both giving and receiving. Check others blogs and comment as you feel motivated to do.</li>
</ol>
<p>The challenge started on January 2, 2012 and ends on March 19, 2012.   As I said, I am few days late but since I have been doing most of these focus points, I should be fine.</p>

<p>Yesterday morning, i got up early to run in the James V. Snyder 5k resolution run. The race was being held in North Park. The weather was FANTASTIC. It&#8217;s was around 46 degrees when I left my house but when I got into the park the temperature had dropped to 38 degrees. But the sun was shining and it wasn&#8217;t that bad once I started running.</p>
<p>This was my first time running at North Park and the organizers didn&#8217;t post the route on the website. So I didn&#8217;t know what to expect once I got there. <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':-(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>But it turned that the route wasn&#8217;t that bad. There was one decent hill at the beginning of the race and then a few rolling hills mixed throughout the three miles. Once I made it past that first hill, I was okay. On the way back, I was able to pick up my speed and finish <strong>STRONG!!!!</strong></p>
<p>And boy did I finish <strong>STRONG!!!!</strong></p>

<p>Well, my first schedule race is this coming Saturday.</p>
<p>I will be running in the <a href="http://www.jvresolutionrun.com/home.html">James V Snyder Memorial &#8220;Resolution Run</a>.</p>
<p>I am SUPER EXCITED to get outside and run again.</p>

<p>Argghhhhhhhh!!! This has been my weight for my last 4 weigh &#8211; ins.</p>

<p>But the weight is not coming off.  :-(</p>
<p>I am not going to let it stop me.   I do notice a difference in my clothes , so that is a positive.</p>
<p>But I still think my scale is broke.  :-)</p>
<p>Thats my story and I am sticking with it.  *For now*</p>
